Jafar Panahi is an Iranian film director, screenwriter and producer known for his socially critical portrayals of Iranian society. Despite repeated filmmaking bans imposed by Iranian authorities, he continued to make films clandestinely. His work has been recognised at major international festivals, including the Golden Bear in Berlin, the Caméra d'Or in Cannes, and the Golden Lion in Venice.
