Pavel (Pawluscha) Novotný – War and Faith in the Middle East

A lecture and discussion with veteran foreign correspondent, journalist and scholar of religion Pavel (Pawluscha) Novotný focusing on conflicts in the Middle East and the role of religion in their development.

Pawluscha, whose civil name is Pavel Novotný (born 1969), studied macroeconomics and later religious studies. He acquired his nickname while working on construction sites in Russia in the late 1980s. He has worked and published in numerous Czech media outlets, most notably in Lidové noviny and MF Dnes. He covered the final phase of the Balkan wars and has gradually visited dozens of countries in the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Latin America.
