Drawing the Personal is Political
took place · 30 Sep 2026
Description was written before the event
What can feminist comics reveal about the body, relationships, gender, and society? How does personal experience become a political topic?
This debate will focus on contemporary feminist comics and their ability to address sensitive subjects - the body, sexuality, relationships, motherhood, gender stereotypes, and social inequality. Comics allow for direct and unfiltered reflection on personal experiences while revealing their connection to broader social and cultural norms. The discussion will begin with the work of Liv Strömquist and Alison Bechdel, but will also offer a wider perspective on feminist comics both in the Czech Republic and worldwide.
