Between Us in Silence
Galerie Uhelný mlýn, Libčice nad Vltavou
The work of Petr Gruber, Michal Kindernaye, Šárka Koudelová and Matěj Lišta meet in this exhibition in a quiet yet intense dialogue about landscape, time, tempo and memory.
Their practice is not based on spectacular gesture, but on concentrated listening – to materials, to place, and to what gradually disappears from the landscape, or what seems to function continuously beyond our control and attention. They share an interest in layers: geological, sonic, memorial and relational. Layers that do not reveal themselves all at once, but demand time and attention.
The exhibition grows into a specific place – the Coal Mill in Libčice nad Vltavou. A space and buildings that for more than one hundred and fifty years were filled with noise, dust, the rhythm of machines and industrial production have now transformed into a place of quietude and gallery contemplation. Yet the past has not disappeared here. It remains present in the architecture, in the structure of the building and in the invisible memory of the space. The gallery does not act as an erasure of industrial history, but as its gentle transformation – a place where the energy of production flows into the energy of artistic contemplation. The exhibition does not erase this context, but sensitively updates and translates it into contemporary language. The exhibition thus connects contemporary Czech art within an interdisciplinary framework and explores the relationship between human, landscape and time through a place that has itself undergone fundamental transformation.
