Kafara Christmas Party: Grumper/Chora Sfakion/Amygdala Aid

Kafara closes out 2026 with its traditional Christmas party - this year a bit more festive than usual. We'll celebrate, take stock, say goodbye and welcome the new.

Grumper - art-punk as sensory overload. Noise, grit and the aesthetics of old VHS tapes: Brno's Grumper uncover the dark side of alternative rock. You might know the members from the projects sinks and Nichi Mlebom; a love of strange sounds brought them together. Instead of a conventional album, they debuted last year with a live recording shot on four CCTV cameras, capturing the raw energy of the trio. Call it glitch-rock if you like.

Chora Sfakion - named after a coastal town in Crete, they blend nervous post-punk with the laid-back atmosphere of Moravian Tuscany. They emerged from a garage rehearsal space after covid and initially wrote only songs named after food - hence their self-described "gastropunk" style. They scored on Radio Wave's Starter and their debut album Féerie came out in 2025 on Indies Scope. It's defined by the dreamy vocals of singer Míša, shoegaze distortion and hypnotic bass lines.

Amygdala Aid - a Brno trio (formerly Amygdala) fusing math rock with other alternative rock genres: fast energetic drums, unconventional bass and melodic guitar riffs in open tuning. They've already played every Brno club from Kafara to Melodka and have also performed in Bratislava. They have two tracks on streaming services.

This event is part of the Vinyl Music Awards project, held with financial support from the Czech Ministry of Culture, the South Moravian Region, the City of Brno, the Czech State Fund for Culture and the City of Prague.
