"Is it possible that women don't have incisive thoughts?" This production explores the legacy of Charlotte Garrigue Masaryk - a woman who stood beside T. G. Masaryk and fought for women's rights, including women's suffrage.
Director and artistic director Silvia Vollmann creates a personal monodrama with actress Milada Vyhnálková in the style of lecture performance, blending discourse with theatrical action. For Vyhnálková, this is her first solo acting project. With personal openness, she asks why we know Masaryk, but know so little about who Masaryková was.
A documentary component of the production includes an interview between Vyhnálková and Charlotte Kotik, great-granddaughter of Charlotte Garrigue Masaryk, and authentic video materials filmed in New York, Charlotte's birthplace. The result is a theatrical "pseudodocument" that reminds us that women also shaped history - and that without Charlotte, Czechoslovakia would have looked different.
