Twenty-One

Twenty-One is a performative anthology presenting Ibsen's Nora in the 21st century - seen twenty different ways. The project questions the identity of woman, creator, and mother who refuses to be trapped in a "doll's house".

Directors from Prague, Nairobi, and Ukraine bring their own reality and personal experience to the character. Each explores how Ibsen's theme resonates in her cultural context and artistic practice - starting from the constraints women commonly face in creative work: lack of time, space, and economic resources.

Each director gets two days of rehearsal to create a two-minute performative fragment with Miřenka Čechová. The performer's body thus becomes a living document and catalogue of twenty different directorial approaches - in the spirit of Marina Abramović's legendary performance Rhythm 0.
