Tiger in Distress & Johan: Landscape with Warehouses
Moving Station, Pilsen · 240 / 370 Kč · ≈ 15 €
End of year in the western Czech borderlands. The glow of logistics halls and the melancholy of Advent draw lonely souls - the living and the dead gather in a scarred landscape before a workers' hostel, settling accounts from the past, dreaming of a better future, and bringing their secrets to light. Everyone suffers from insomnia.
"I want to guide owls to the church tower in flight.
I want to freeze the spines of those who tormented me.
I want to stop! Take me with you!
I want to stop! Keep stopping!
Stop me!"
This contemporary play by Marie Nováková, a native of Cheb, is a portrait of a landscape that has been deeply scarred by modern history. It takes place in a location that has been treated over the past hundred years as a strategic territory, not as a community - and people here died far from their homes. Strange encounters happen at night: a gathering of former border guards is disrupted by an uninvited guest from the past, a retired prostitute converses with Bashkir fighters, a Polish warehouse worker confides in a Sudeten German.
Warning: Cigarettes are smoked on stage during the performance.
