SONDA - Sound festival II — Theatre Na Orlí, Brno

The second evening of the SONDA festival takes place on Saturday, 28 November 2026 at Divadlo na Orlí in Brno. The festival is a platform for experimental music and contemporary sound art, now in its fifth year. Entry is free, but registration is required due to limited capacity.

The programme begins before arrival at the theatre: an experimental radio play Climatic Stations directed by Jiří Honzírek (sound: Jiří Y. Suchánek) will be broadcast live on tram number 4 from Tomkovo náměstí to Cejl. Scattered fragments of messages from a dystopian future comment on the passing surroundings.

The evening opens with an open panel discussion featuring artists, theorists, and experts on the current state and possible future development of sound forms and music presentation, as well as sound art. Audience participation is welcome. This is followed by a concert programme combining fixed electroacoustic and multichannel compositions with audio performances.

Performers include: Belarusian intermedia artist Maria Komarova (silent acoustic concert with small motors and everyday objects); Belgian sound artist Aernoudt Jacobs with the concert version of the installation Humming the Ubique (humming of invisible signals - radiation, cosmic rays, infrasound, magnetic fields - made present through an apparatus of sounding coloured foils); František Hruška and Ján Podracký with the participatory performance Trychtýř pro světelné senzory a harmoniky, in which the audience becomes a co-creator. Spatial electroacoustic compositions will also be heard: composer Sohrab Motabar (based in Tehran) with radical digital sound aesthetics connected to image; Greek composer Dimitris Savva processing mythic motifs; Darien Britto, graduate of the Dutch Institute of Sonology, whose work draws from the complexity of natural processes. The evening concludes with Polish Random Check Media Ensemble presenting their new AV work UN-ORGANIC(8).

In the theatre atrium, a 20-channel sound installation DodekaOTTO with ambisonic compositions from the Sonic Saturday programme of this year's Ars Electronica will be installed for the duration of both festival days.
