Twenty-One

Twenty female directors and choreographers. One performer. Twenty different perspectives on one theme.

DVENTY-ONE presents Ibsen's Nora for the 21st century - twenty times differently. The project raises questions about the identity of a woman, creator, and mother who refuses to be trapped in a "doll's house". Directors from Prague, Nairobi, and Ukraine bring their own reality and personal experiences to the character, exploring how Ibsen's theme resonates in their cultural contexts. The starting point is the limitations women in creative work often experience - lack of time, space, and economic constraints.

Each creator gets two days of rehearsal to work with performer Miřenka Čechová to create a two-minute fragment. The performer's body thus becomes a living document of twenty different directorial approaches - in the spirit of Marina Abramović's performance Rhythm 0.

TWENTY-ONE is a performative anthology of female voices that confronts social space with questions of womanhood in the present day.
