Revolutionary Prague in 1848

The Spring of Nations swept across almost all of Europe in 1848. The barricade fighting in Prague lasted only a few days, yet it significantly shaped the city's history and the lives of its inhabitants.

This walking tour visits sites connected to the June Uprising - the fraternal mass at Wenceslas Square, clashes on Celetná Street, and events at the Hrzán Palace, which housed the military headquarters. The route continues through the Old Town Hall and the Clementinum courtyard to the Old Town Bridge Tower, where some of the fiercest battles took place. The guide will also explore lesser-known facts about the uprising, its participants, and the figures who influenced these historic events.
