Exhibition - Friedrich Arts: Overload
The Overload exhibition explores the experience of visual oversaturation: images stream at us continuously - from phones, films, advertisements, and social media - and their sheer volume changes our ability to focus on any single one.
Eleven exhibiting artists - Viktor Frešo, Matei R. Mai, Michal Durda, Jan Slanina, Julius Reichel, Tomáš Roubal, Michaela Spružinová, Jan Poš, Jakub Nepraš, Sabina Knetlová, and Anna Maria Schonrock - approach the theme from different perspectives and through various media. Their work features digitally manipulated images, engagement with new technologies, light, objects, and materials. Oversaturation is not just the subject matter but also a formal property of some pieces: layering, repetition, glitch, and material saturation create situations where information competes for the viewer's attention.
The exhibition also contrasts the speed of contemporary visual culture with works created through slow, physically demanding processes. Curators: Jan Reindl and Mira Macík.
Opening hours: Wednesday - Sunday 10:00 - 18:00.
