How to Hear Sound in Film
Ashot Mansuryan, a graduate of FAMO in Písek, leads a course focused on the dramaturgical functions of sound in film. The course covers the fundamentals of film sound and the various types of information that sound conveys to the viewer - often without conscious awareness. Practical examples demonstrate how even small changes in sound placement, timbre, or rhythm can fundamentally transform an entire scene.
The goal of the course is to provide participants with a concrete framework that classifies and simplifies the dramaturgical functions of sound - making it easier to make conscious creative decisions.
The course is designed for beginners, those interested in film sound work, and directors who know what they want to feel in a scene but struggle to articulate it when working with sound. Teaching is conducted in English.
