From Classics to Film Music and Jazz

A concert combining organ and trumpet with a repertoire spanning from Baroque through film music to jazz, performed in the acoustics of the Church of St. Nicholas on Old Town Square.

Program

Great Baroque and classical works:
- J. S. Bach - Toccata and Fugue in D minor
- G. F. Handel - Hallelujah from the oratorio Messiah
- A. Dvořák - Largo from Symphony No. 9 "From the New World"
- beloved film music for organ and trumpet
- famous musical, pop and jazz melodies for piano and trumpet

Performers:
- František Bílek - trumpet, principal trumpet soloist of the Prague State Opera
- Michal Hanzal - organ, piano, principal organist and pianist of the Church of St. Nicholas

During the concert, the musicians perform from three different locations within the church, so the sound comes from various directions and transforms with the space's acoustics. The Church of St. Nicholas on Old Town Square is one of Europe's most acoustically exceptional concert venues - its floor plan with a dome in the centre means the music surrounds listeners from all sides.
