Old Czech Legends + Short Film

Jiří Trnka's animated film is based on the work of the same name by Alois Jirásek. In writing the film story, Trnka and writer Miloš V. Kratochvíl also drew on the Chronicle of Cosmas and the results of archaeological research. The film comprises six episodes from the ancient history of the Czechs: from the arrival in a new homeland under the leadership of the chieftain Čech, through legends of Bivoj's combat with a boar, of Libuše and Přemysl, of the Maiden Wars, and of Horymír and his horse Šemík, to the concluding myth of the Lucký War.
