Václav Vydra (born 7 January 1956 in Prague) is a Czech theatre, film and television actor, and a member of the Divadlo na Vinohradech company since 1995. He comes from one of Czech theatre's most distinguished acting dynasties - his father was actor Václav Vydra ml., his mother the celebrated actress Dana Medřická, and his grandfather Václav Vydra st. served as director of the National Theatre from 1945 to 1949. Over nearly fifty years on stage and screen, he has played roles ranging from Shakespeare and Molière to popular Czech film comedies, with the films Černí baroni and the Kameňák series among his best-known screen work.
