Václav Vydra (born 7 January 1956 in Prague) is a Czech theatre, film and television actor, and a member of the Divadlo na Vinohradech company since 1995. He comes from one of Czech theatre's most distinguished acting dynasties - his father was actor Václav Vydra ml., his mother the celebrated actress Dana Medřická, and his grandfather Václav Vydra st. served as director of the National Theatre from 1945 to 1949. Over nearly fifty years on stage and screen, he has played roles ranging from Shakespeare and Molière to popular Czech film comedies, with the films Černí baroni and the Kameňák series among his best-known screen work.
Vydra appeared in the film comedy Diary of a Shopaholic (directed by Eva Toulová), which had its cinema premiere on December 11, 2025.
In December 2023, the comedy Don't Drink the Water by Woody Allen premiered at the Divadlo na Vinohradech, in which Vydra played the lead role of Walter Hollander.
In November 2024, Vydra was a guest on the video podcast Diary with Perspective, where he talked about his more than fifty-year career.
