The Moravian Smoked Meat Festival at Veveří Castle is being held for the thirteenth time in 2027. It is a unique event of its kind throughout the Czech Republic.

The main programme features a competitive tasting of smoked products from leading Moravian meat producers - visitors vote for Sausage Master of the Year. The festival also includes family wineries with wines from South Moravia, a new beer zone with microbreweries, a craft and food market with regional specialities, and a food zone focused on smoked meat dishes. There will also be traditional Moravian pig slaughter demonstrations and workshops with master butchers. Soup is free for everyone.

Sunday features a special children's programme with competitions, craft demonstrations, and family admission.

About the venue: Veveří Castle

Veveří Castle is one of the largest and oldest castle complexes in the Czech Republic, situated on a rocky promontory above the Brno Reservoir, about 12 km northwest of Brno city centre. First mentioned in writing in 1213, the stone castle developed from the 13th century and was substantially expanded by Moravian Margrave John Henry in the 14th century. Administered by the National Heritage Institute, it offers guided tours, permanent and seasonal exhibitions, and a range of cultural events throughout the season.
