The Return of Ondrej Balaz

An original production by Divadlo Houže, "The Return of Ondrej Balaz" or "Pictures from the Great War" is a free adaptation of a story by Doboslav Chrobak.

The production examines war from the perspective of both the powerful and the nameless soldiers in the trenches - who is a hero, and what war are we actually talking about? Divadlo Houže presents a war that was initially called Great, yet its questions remain equally relevant today. Since its founding, the ensemble's poetics have aimed at reflecting the present through archaic material whose significance is often underestimated or hidden beneath the layers of time.
