Author Magda Gargulakova and illustrator Jakub Bachorik meet with readers to discuss their book BRIDGES. The conversation explores what bridges are used for, the many forms they can take, and how they are built - from the longest and most famous in the world to the history of concrete and the nickname "architect of bridges".

The authors will share how the book came to life and how many illustrations were created before completion. Time permitting, Jakub will lead a workshop where participants create their own bridge landscapes.

About the venue: Werichova vila

Werich Villa (also known as Dobrovský's Cottage) is a historic listed building on Prague's Kampa island, with origins dating to the 17th century. The building originally served as a tannery, later belonged to the Nostitz family and was home to Josef Dobrovský. From 1945 until his death in 1980, actor Jan Werich lived here. Today it is run by the Jan and Meda Mládek Foundation as a multicultural arts centre with a permanent exhibition, theatre performances, concerts and workshops.
