Architecture Day: Brno - 101 Years of Kamenka — Duck bar, Brno

A guided walk through the Kamenka neighbourhood on the occasion of its 101st anniversary, led by curators of the exhibition "From the Rock to Kamenka" - Žaneta Ročková, Martina Babinčáková and Pavel Košťál from the Brno City Museum.

The first modest workers' houses on the rock above the Svratka river began to grow in the 1920s as a response to the housing crisis of the time. Kamenka is today one of the best-preserved workers' colonies in Brno - it carries unique traditions, distinctive architecture and a legacy of housing precarity in various forms. The possibility of building a home with mutual aid on municipal land in a few months is now unrealistic, as is acquiring housing here at an affordable price. Many current residents also have no chance of becoming owners of the land on which their house stands.

The walk will lead through the narrow streets of the upper and lower "Rock", where a panel exhibition is displayed on houses, fences and poles.
