Expert Panel: Mushrooms and Psychedelics

As part of the Czech Fungi Fest festival, an expert panel "Mushrooms and Psychedelics" takes place on September 15 from 5 p.m. Since January 1, 2026, the Czech Republic has become the first EU country to legislatively permit clinical use and prescription of psilocybin - the active compound in hallucinogenic mushrooms - as a medicine for patients with severe depression unresponsive to standard treatment. The panel discussion will focus on what hallucinogenic mushrooms contain, what makes them unique, and what opportunities the new legislation brings for their use - including future perspectives and results of current clinical trials.

The panelists include MUDr. Filip Tylš, Ph.D. (Psyon), MUDr. Vivian Mária Winkler (NÚDZ), Maks Houbit - author of the book "Houbook" about hallucinogenic mushrooms - and Martin Uther Duřt from the Czech Psychedelic Society. The discussion is moderated by Mgr. František Škanta, Ph.D. from the Academy of Sciences.

The evening includes an exhibition of psychedelic paintings by Martin Uther Duřt. The event concludes with an informal afterparty in a special Psychedelic UV room, featuring DJ César Chunk.
