The Unknown Hero Premysl Pitter

Premysl Pitter - a Christian educator, humanist and pacifist - dedicated his life to helping vulnerable children. He built Milíč House in Prague's Žižkov district for poor children, supported Jewish families during World War II, and after the war rescued hundreds of Jewish children from concentration camps as well as German children from internment camps. The lecture will include a screening of Premysl Pitter's short film "Children".

Lecturer Mgr. Magdalena Faltusova is a research specialist and archivist in the Department of Research and Presentation of P. Pitter's Legacy at the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes. In her scholarly work she focuses on the figures of Premysl Pitter and Olga Fierzova. She is the author of the publication "Milíč House of Premysl Pitter in Prague's Suburbs - An Example of Czech-German-Jewish Coexistence" and co-author of the exhibition "Childhood Under the Swastika".
