The exhibition presents the history of Volhynian Czechs from their departure to Tsarist Russia in the 19th century through to modern returns from Ukraine. It explores the building of Czech villages in Volhynia, the economic and cultural life of the diaspora, Czech education, civic activities, and the dramatic events of both world wars.

About the venue: Zábřeh Museum

Muzeum Zábřeh occupies the Renaissance house Pod Podloubím, considered one of the finest surviving examples of a burgher house in northern Moravia. The mazhaus-type building with Gothic cellars was remodelled in the second half of the 16th century, when its tower and arcade were added. Run by the Regional Museum in Šumperk, it holds a permanent exhibition on the history of the Zábřeh area, a dedicated section on local-born explorer Jan Eskymo Welzl, and collections ranging from Václav Hollar prints to folk paintings on glass.
