Le Magnifique is his most successful concert format: melodies from classic French films, a symphony orchestra and large-scale projection. Version two adds new compositions and guest performers.
In 2024 he created the successful project Le Magnifique inspired by music from French films, and the idea behind it is simple yet powerful. It is a concert made up of the most famous works of French film music from roughly the 1970s to the 1990s, melodies that Czechs fell in love with back in the previous era. They are performed live in a way most people have never heard them before, while famous film scenes play on the screen.
The accompanying ensemble is no random choice. Accompanied by the Epoque Symphonic Orchestra, Ondřej Brzobohatý drives this show in the role of performer, singer and conductor. And because the first series was a success, a sequel followed. Le Magnifique 2 newly adds special guests, who are accompanied by the Epoque Symphonic Orchestra. It is exactly this second version that Brno will see in December as part of the event Le Magnifique 2 at Sono Centrum.
Interestingly, the project was born in a theatrical setting and gradually grew into concert halls and open-air summer stages. Its strength lies in the fact that it does not require anyone to know the names of French composers. From Kudykam to the film screen: the composer you hear without realising it
Before he started filling halls under his own name, he was writing and arranging for the biggest stars and for the theatre. His signature can be found on albums by legends, in musicals and in films that are still running today.
The breakthrough came on the opera stage. He gained recognition in 2009 when he completely arranged and created the incidental music for Michal Horáček and Petr Hapka's lyrical piece Kudykam at the State Opera. Since then he has stayed close to the musical. In 2018 he composed the musical Legenda jménem Holmes for the Karlín Musical Theatre, with Vojtěch Dyk in the lead role; earlier he also wrote the musical Já, François Villon and, together with Slovak poet Ľubomír Feldek, the title Cyrano.
As a songwriter he moved between pop and chanson for a whole gallery of names. He contributed as an author to albums by Sámer Issa, Dara Rolins, Hana Zagorová, Helena Vondráčková and Karel Gott, and together with lyricist Petr Uličný created fifteen songs for Richard Müller's album titled 55. Under his own name he then released two solo albums. His discography includes two studio albums, Identity from 2013 and Universum from 2017.
And then there is film, through which you hear him even when you do not notice. He became a film music composer, among other things for the films Anděl Páně 2, Osmy, Strach v hlavní roli and the series Labyrint. At the Karlín theatre he is now a fixture, Anděl Páně being a production for which he is credited as the established composer behind the musical component.
The symphonic sound that defines his concerts today is not something he is testing for the first time. With his band he performed the repertoire from the albums Identity and Universum alongside his own arrangements of world hits, and was part of the Symphonicum tour with the Epoque Symphonic Orchestra.
