The Yerevan State Chamber Choir (YSCC) was founded in 1996 by conductor Harutyun Topikyan under the patronage of Catholicos Garegin I, and received state status in 2009. The ensemble focuses on the choral heritage of Komitas and has given world premieres of works by several Armenian and international composers. It gained wide international recognition through its collaboration with jazz pianist Tigran Hamasyan on the ECM Records album Luys i Luso (2015), followed by an extensive tour across Europe, the Middle East and the USA. Since 2021, artistic director and conductor Kristina Voskanyan has led the choir.
YSCC under the direction of Kristina Voskanyan won the main prize in the professional choirs category at the 43rd International Festival of Orthodox Church Music Hajnówka 2024 in Poland.
The choir participated in the 41st annual Hajnówka festival in Poland (September 21-25) and won in the professional choirs category - for the first time in the ensemble's history.
Kristina Voskanyan became the artistic director and conductor of YSCC, having worked with the ensemble since its founding in 1996.
The choir undertook an extensive tour with pianist Tigran Hamasyan for the album Luys i Luso (ECM Records) - performances took place in churches in Armenia, Georgia, Turkey, Lebanon, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Czech Republic, England, Germany, Luxembourg, Russia, and the USA.
