Yemen Blues / ISR
Israeli group Yemen Blues brings their distinctive fusion of Eastern and modern music to the stage.
Yemen Blues is an Israeli ensemble founded in Tel Aviv in 2010 by singer and multi-instrumentalist Ravid Kahalani, who grew up in a traditional Yemenite Jewish family. The band weaves ancient Yemeni and North African melodies together with funk, jazz and blues, singing in Hebrew, Arabic, French and English. They broke through after a landmark set at the 2010 Babel Med Music Festival in Marseille and have since released four studio albums, most recently Shabazi - A Tribute to the Poet (2023).
Yemen Blues released the single "People" (April 10, 2024) with a music video shot in collaboration with the dance collective MOVE|NYC|.
The band performed at the Fusion Festival in Lärz, Germany (June 2024).
Yemen Blues completed an autumn tour of the USA and Europe (September - December 2024), including performances in Dornbirn, Portland, and Miami.
The album "Shabazi - A Tribute to the Poet" was released (June 23, 2023), paying tribute to the Yemenite poet and rabbi Shalom Shabazi from the 17th century.
Yemen Blues performed in Tel Aviv at the Barby club (January 29, 2025).
