About

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) was an Austrian composer of the Classical period whose output - over 600 works spanning opera, symphony, concerto and chamber music - remains among the most performed in the history of Western music. Born in Salzburg, he showed extraordinary musical gifts from early childhood and spent his mature years in Vienna, where he produced his greatest operas and symphonies. His combination of melodic invention and formal mastery has kept his music at the centre of the concert repertoire for more than two centuries.
