Werner Schwab (1958–1994) was an Austrian playwright known for his radical, grotesque language and biting social satire. His debut play Die Präsidentinnen (1990) depicts three marginalized women and became one of the most significant German-language theatre texts of the 1990s. Schwab died at the age of 35, leaving a lasting mark on European drama.
