European Day of Music
International celebration of music with performances at four locations across Turnov. Local orchestral ensembles, folk bands, and musical groups perform from morning to evening.
Turnovské orchestrální sdružení is a chamber orchestra based in Turnov, active in the region since 1891. It brings together musicians from the wider Turnov area and has long been led by conductor and composer Martin Hybler. The repertoire centres on Baroque and Classical works, though the ensemble also takes on contemporary composers. It regularly collaborates with local choirs and performs at events across the Bohemian Paradise region.
On European Music Day, June 21, 2026, the orchestra will open an all-day program in Turnov with a morning performance in the castle park in Hrubý Rohozec.
In April 2026, the orchestra performed together with the rock band TonyBeat at the Turnov Municipal Theatre - the project combined a string ensemble with rock hits in new arrangements.
The Turnov City Council approved in March 2026 a grant of 35,000 CZK for the TonyBeat project and the Turnov Orchestral Association.
At the beginning of January 2026, the orchestra accompanied the Ještěd choir in the performance of Ryba's Czech Christmas Mass in the German city of Žitava (Zittau).
In December 2025, the orchestra traditionally accompanied the Ještěd choir in the performance of Ryba's Czech Christmas Mass at the Church of St. Anthony the Great in Liberec.
