Štěpán Švestka is a Czech cellist born in 1982 in Brno. He studied at JAMU Brno and completed a residency with Martti Rousi at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. A winner of four international competitions - including the outright first prize at the Leoš Janáček Competition - he also holds a world record for the fastest performance of Rimsky-Korsakov's Flight of the Bumblebee. He teaches at JAMU, leads the Shadow Quartet, and plays in the Prague Cello Quartet.
