
Spirituál kvartet
Spirituál kvartet continues the legacy of the legendary Czechoslovak folk band Spirituál kvintet, featuring long-time members Jiří Holoubek and Veronika Součková alongside other accomplished musicians.
Spirituál kvartet is a Czech folk group founded in late 2021 by Jiří Holoubek, a former member of the legendary Spirituál kvintet, together with singer Veronika Součková, multi-instrumentalist Zbyněk Bureš and guitarist Jan Janda. The band carries on the tradition of its predecessor - one of the most important Czech folk acts of the 20th century - while building its own repertoire of songs the kvintet never performed. Their self-titled debut album earned a gold record in February 2026.
The band received a gold record for the sales of their debut self-titled CD released in September 2024.
In autumn 2026, the band plans to release a Christmas CD titled "Vychází hvězda nad Betlém".
The premiere of the debut self-titled album took place on September 22, 2024 at the Prague theater Bez zábradlí.
Jiří Holoubek emphasized in an interview with Czech Radio that Spirituál kvartet is not a revival band, but goes its own way with new repertoire.
