Sebastian Brettfeld is a graduate of the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno, active as a soloist on double bass and historical violone. He has performed with the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava and the Gustav Mahler Philharmonic Jihlava, and is a laureate of international competitions in the Czech Republic and Poland. He founded the ensemble Viennese Tuning Times, which focuses on baroque and classical repertoire with the violone tuned to the original Viennese pitch. He also writes pedagogical works - his output includes an eight-volume double bass method and over 140 registered publications.
