Sandra Hüller (born 30 April 1978 in Suhl, East Germany) is a German actress trained at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin. She broke through internationally with Maren Ade's Toni Erdmann (2016), then dominated the 2023 awards season with lead roles in Anatomy of a Fall - which earned her a César Award and an Oscar nomination - and The Zone of Interest. In 2026 she is appearing in four major films simultaneously, cementing her status as one of Europe's most sought-after screen performers.
The film Fatherland directed by Paweł Pawlikowski, in which Hüller plays Erika Mann, had its world premiere in the main competition at the Cannes Film Festival and won the Prize for Best Direction.
After the premiere of Fatherland at Cannes, Hüller received a five-minute standing ovation from the audience at the Grand Palais.
At the 2026 Berlin Film Festival, Hüller won the Silver Bear for Best Actress in a Leading Role for the film Rose directed by Markus Schleinzer - this is her second award of this kind.
In March 2026, Hüller appeared alongside Ryan Gosling in the blockbuster Project Hail Mary, a science fiction adaptation of Andy Weir's novel.
The release of the film Digger directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu is planned for October 2026, in which Hüller plays alongside Tom Cruise.
