Patrik Hartl (born 10 September 1976 in Olomouc) is a Czech novelist, playwright, screenwriter and theatre director. He studied film and TV directing at FAMU in Prague and has been a resident author and director at Studio DVA theatre since its early days. His 2012 debut novel Prvok, Šampón, Tečka a Karel became a bestseller and was later adapted into the most-attended Czech film of 2021; every subsequent novel has won the Czech Bestseller Award. His latest book, Manželství, came out in autumn 2025.
In December 2025, Hartl gave an open interview to Deník N, in which he spoke about his latest novel Manželství and about sensitivity as a creative source.
In October 2025, Hartl's new novel Manželství was published by Bourdon, which immediately became one of the best-selling works of Czech fiction.
In December 2024, Hartl had to withdraw from the dance competition StarDance (ČT) for health reasons after eight rounds - doctors diagnosed him with inflammation of the ankle bone.
In autumn 2024, Hartl participated in the thirteenth season of the dance competition StarDance on Czech Television, where he danced with professional dancer Tereza Prucková.
In 2024, Hartl published his first children's book Andulka Andula, which received the Český bestseller award in the category of Czech fiction for children and young people.
