An exhibition tracing Czech ceramic design from the 1950s to 1970s, showcasing industrial products and works by renowned designers influenced by the Brussels style of Expo 58.
Otto Eckert (1910 Kralovice - 1995 Prague) was a Czech sculptor and ceramicist, regarded as the founder of modern Czech applied ceramics. After studying at the Prague School of Applied Arts he worked at the EPIAG porcelain factory and in his own workshop in his native Kralovice. From 1946 he taught at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, heading its ceramics studio and serving as rector from 1960 to 1966. His work, rooted in functionalism, is known for layered, sgraffito-style glazes. He received the title of National Artist in 1975.
