Ondřej Ruml (born 21 August 1981 in Jablonec nad Nisou) is a Czech singer, actor and multi-instrumentalist who trained at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory in Prague. He came to national attention as the runner-up on the Czech X Factor in 2008, and has since built a career spanning jazz, swing, chanson and musical theatre. His 2014 album Ondřej Ruml zpívá Ježka, Voskovce a Wericha, recorded with the Matej Benko Quintet, earned a Gold Record; the a cappella-loop album Nahubu (2016) brought him an Anděl Award nomination. In 2026 he released Vždycky to tu bylo, his most sonically adventurous record to date, blending electro-pop, art rock and alternative.
Ondřej Ruml released on March 20, 2026 his author album Vždycky to tu bylo - a ten-song record produced by Igor Ochepovsky, which heads into electro-pop, art rock and alternative.
Ruml will perform as the opening act for the band Chinaski on their summer open-air tour, and the entire new album will be heard live on July 15 at the Colours of Ostrava festival.
Ruml confirmed in an interview for musicserver.cz that he deliberately did not use artificial intelligence when recording the album to emphasize the human creative process.
In October 2025, Ruml released the single Viděl jsem as the first preview of the upcoming album, the music video presented his darker musical side.
In August 2025, Ruml performed at the Monastery Music Festival in Velké Losiny with a recital dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Liberated Theater.
