
The Taming of the Shrew - Summer Shakespeare Festival 2026
A Slovak production of Shakespeare's comedy directed by Michal Vajdička with a stellar cast. Part of the Summer Shakespeare Festival in Ostrava at Silesian Ostrava Castle.
Michal Ďuriš (born 8 July 1964 in Brezno) is a Slovak stage and screen actor, voice artist and television presenter. Since 2011 he has been a permanent member of the Divadlo Jozefa Gregora Tajovského theatre in Zvolen, working across puppet theatre, physical theatre, opera and drama. He became a household name as the host of the quiz show Pokušenie on TV Markíza, and more recently appeared in the crime series Kriminálka Kraj and the period drama Sľub.
Ďuriš continues in the role of headmaster Viktor Gálik in the third season of the series Sľub on TV Markíza, which airs from April 2026.
The second season of the series Sľub returned to TV Markíza screens on September 1, 2025, with Ďuriš again playing school headmaster Viktor Gálik.
In September 2024, Ďuriš celebrated his 60th birthday and in an interview spoke about his role in the second season of the crime series Kriminálka Kraj on TV JOJ.
Ďuriš performed at the Summer Shakespeare Festival 2024 in the production of The Taming of the Shrew directed by Michal Vajdička.
The Jozef Gregor Tajovský Theatre in Zvolen, where Ďuriš has been a member of the ensemble since 2011, underwent extensive reconstruction, which required adjustments to the theatre season.
