Michal Baumbruck

Michal Baumbruck (born 1956) is a Czech documentary director, screenwriter and cinematographer who trained at FAMU in Prague. After emigrating to the United States in 1985, he worked for the Smithsonian Institution and PBS and shot war-zone reportage in the former Yugoslavia. Back in the Czech Republic, he has built a body of long-form documentary portraits - subjects include sculptor Jiří Sozanský, artist Čestmír Suška and guitarist Michal Pavlíček. He also teaches at FAMU.
