Metropolitní divadlo Praha is a privately funded, non-subsidised theatre company founded in Prague in 2006 by Dana Bartůňková and Jiří Sequens. Its ensemble draws on actors from Prague's drama and musical stages, performing both in the capital and on tour across the Czech Republic and abroad. The repertoire spans children's musicals and fairy-tale shows alongside evening comedies and adaptations of Czech literary classics such as Erben's Kytice and Mácha's Máj.
The Metropolitan Theatre Prague presented in March 2025 a production of May based on Karel Hynek Macha's work for a secondary school audience in Varnsdorf.
The production of May performed by the Metropolitan Theatre Prague was presented in June 2025 in Kaplice.
A new project was published on the theatre's website - a theatrical adaptation of Macha's lyric-epic poem May, following the success of the production Wreaths.
In March 2024 the theatre performed an adaptation of Erben's Wreaths for secondary school students in the sold-out Varnsdorf Municipal Theatre.
