Marta Jirásková

Marta Jirásková (1898-1981) was a Czech sculptor and one of the first generation of Czech female sculptors, alongside Mary Duras. She trained at the School of Applied Arts in Prague and later at the Academy of Fine Arts under professor Jan Štursa. Her portrait of painter Jan Zrzavý (1928-1929) brought her wide recognition and several awards. In 1958, her sculpture Dívka (Girl, 1938) was shown at Expo 58 in Brussels.
