About

Libuška Bachratá (full name Mgr. art. Libuša Čižmárik Bachratá, ArtD.) is a Slovak dancer, choreographer and teacher based in Bratislava, where she works with the SĽUK folk ensemble and teaches at the Dance Department of VŠMU. She holds a doctorate from VŠMU with a dissertation on flamenco didactics, and performs under the stage name La Libu. She trained in Seville, Madrid and Jerez de la Frontera - including at the Amor de Dios school - and also researches Romani dance from the Carpathian Basin, learning directly from masters in Transylvania. In 2007 she founded the flamenco trio ToCaLo, and has worked as a choreographer with theatres across Slovakia and Poland.
