Jana works in a marketing firm and lives her quiet life in Prague. She maintains a relationship with the agency director Karel and expects an engagement to come soon. But Karel doesn't like this, so when he learns that Jana's father is seriously ill and is selling his sawmill built up over the years in the Beskids, he buys it and entrusts Jana with running it. Jana thus has to leave Prague for the Beskids forests and finds herself in a new and completely unfamiliar environment. She doesn't understand the mill's operations at all, so her first decisions are absolutely catastrophic. Pavel, an eccentric man who is absolutely essential to the mill's functioning, is the first to receive his notice. When Jana realizes what a mistake she has made, she tries to win Pavel back.
