Karel Hynek Mácha

Karel Hynek Mácha (1810–1836) was the foremost Czech Romantic poet. His masterpiece, the lyric-epic poem Máj (May, 1836), is a cornerstone of Czech literature, blending vivid nature imagery with themes of love and existential despair. Mácha died at the age of 26, shortly after the poem's publication.
