Joseph Maria Olbrich (1867–1908) was an Austrian architect and a key figure of the Vienna Secession. He co-founded the Secession movement and designed its iconic exhibition building in Vienna (1897–1898). Later, at the invitation of Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig, he moved to Darmstadt, where he designed the Mathildenhöhe artists' colony, including several villas and the Hochzeitsturm.
