Jenny Winternitzová was the wife of Prague lawyer Josef Winternitz, for whose family Adolf Loos designed the Winternitz Villa in 1932 - his last completed work, in the Malvazinky district of Smíchov. During the Second World War the family was deported to Terezín and then Auschwitz, where Josef and their son Petr were killed on arrival. Jenny and her daughter Suzana survived, but never set foot in the villa again, and for decades the house became an unspoken family taboo.
