About

Jan Rak (born 9 February 1962) is a Czech nuclear and quantum physicist who studied at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University in Prague and built his scientific career at institutes in Dubna, Heidelberg, CERN and Brookhaven National Laboratory. At the University of Jyväskylä in Finland he held a professorship and led the Finnish team in the ALICE experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. He has co-authored more than 500 scientific papers and the monograph High-pT Physics in the Heavy Ion Era (Cambridge University Press, 2013). Alongside academic physics, he gives public lectures exploring the relationship between quantum mechanics and human consciousness.

    Professor Rak's team at the ELLIA laboratory in Nelahozeves announced that research into nuclear transmutation without radioactive waste is entering its final phase, and the first results should be available by the end of 2025.
