Jan Kubiš was a Czechoslovak soldier and paratrooper, a sergeant of Operation Anthropoid. Together with Josef Gabčík, he carried out the assassination of Acting Reich Protector Reinhard Heydrich in Prague on 27 May 1942. He died on 18 June 1942 during the Nazi siege of the crypt of the Cathedral of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Prague. He is regarded as one of the heroes of the Czechoslovak resistance in World War II.
