Jan Karafiát (1846–1929) was a Czech writer and Evangelical pastor. He is the author of the children's tale Broučci (Fireflies, 1876), a story about a firefly and his world that became one of the most widely read Czech books for children. The work has been published in dozens of editions and translated into many languages.
