About

Jan Jirásek (born 1955 in Rychnov nad Kněžnou) is a Czech composer whose output spans orchestral and choral music, opera, and film scores. He studied composition under Zdeněk Zouhar at the Janáček Academy in Brno and later worked as a music editor and producer at Czech Radio. His film scores for An Ambiguous Report About the End of the World and Wild Flowers each earned him a Czech Lion Award, and his concert works have been performed at the Prague Spring Festival, Carnegie Hall, and the Munich Biennale.
