Jakub Vaniš

About

Jakub Vaniš (born 1992 in Jablonec nad Nisou) is a Czech illustrator and tattoo artist working under the name The Raven from the North. Growing up in the Jizera Mountains shaped his focus on Viking, Norse and medieval imagery - he works in ink on paper, digitally, and practices machine-free hand poke tattooing. He gained international recognition through collaborations with Norwegian group Wardruna, for whom he created the cover of the album Skald, and with German group Faun, whose deluxe edition of Pagan features his artwork. He is co-owner of Old God Ink tattoo studio in Prague.
